Homemade Orange Syrup for Lemonade ๐ŸŠ

Ingredients:

250 ml fresh orange juice (about 2โ€“3 Algarve oranges)

Zest of 1 Algarve orange

150 g sugar (adjust to taste โ€“ try with raw cane or coconut sugar for depth)

Optional: a small splash of lemon juice to balance the sweetness


Method:

1. Add the orange juice, zest, and sugar to a small saucepan.

2. Heat gently over medium-low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

3. Let it simmer for 10โ€“12 minutes, or until slightly thickened (like a runny syrup).

4. Strain into a clean bottle or jar and cool.

5. Store in the fridge (lasts up to 2 weeks).

๐Ÿน How to Use:

In lemonade: Mix 2 tbsps orange syrup with chilled still or sparkling water, add lemon juice to taste, and lots of ice.

In cocktails or mocktails โ€“ makes a lovely natural mixer.

Over pancakes or yoghurt for a morning treat.
